Nadsila Ranch

The History of Nadsila Ranch Sporthorses

Nadsila Ranch, situated 25 km southwest of Prince George, British Columbia is named from the nearby Nadsilnich Lake (West Lake).

In the late 1960's Sam Schacke, the ranch's owner, obtained a quarter section of raw land from the Crown and started to clear it, developing it into hayfields and pastures. The ranch first bred running quarter horses with Three Bars, Leo and Top Deck breeding.

Since the family was interested in jumping, dressage and eventing, we crossed some of these quarter horse mares with the thoroughbred stallion Comic Fellow, a well bred animal going back to Tom Fool, Nearco, Noor, Nasrullah and Bull Dog. Comic Fellow produced many talented hunter jumper offspring.

In 1991, Sam purchased the Dutch Warmblood stallion Footloose by Argus, as a yearling from the American Performance Farm in San Diego, California.  As a 2 year old Footloose started his breeding career, covering the appendix quarter horse mares with great success.

In the last few years we increased the herd with registered warmblood mares with Dutch, Swiss and German bloodlines.
Here at Nadsila, the youngsters are raised on top quality hay and pasture and never see a barn until much later in life. In other words, these youngsters grow up and are given a chance to become real horses and are treated with respect.
